A Tale of Resilience and Redemption

In the bustling streets of Kamathipura, Mumbai's red-light district, a tale of courage and perseverance unfolds. Sheetal Jain, born into a world of challenges and adversity, navigated a tumultuous childhood marked by limited education opportunities and experiences of abuse. Raised by a mother who worked as a bar dancer, Sheetal's early years were a testament to the harsh realities of her environment.

Embracing Her Roots and Finding Strength

Sheetal's journey took a pivotal turn when she became a part of Kranti at the age of 17. This NGO, dedicated to empowering daughters of sex workers, provided Sheetal with a platform to heal, grow, and explore her passions. Despite facing marginalization and bullying in school, Sheetal found solace and purpose within the supportive community of Kranti.

A Leap of Faith: Pursuing Her Passion

At 19, Sheetal made a bold decision to abandon formal education and wholeheartedly pursue her passion for drumming. With unwavering determination, she embarked on a transformative path towards self-discovery and creative expression. Through the guidance and support of Kranti, Sheetal found the courage to follow her dreams and carve out a unique identity beyond the constraints of her past.

Inspiring Hope and Empowering Others

Sheetal's story is a testament to resilience, strength, and the transformative power of art-based therapies. By sharing her experiences and embracing her roots, she not only found respect for her mother's profession but also discovered a profound sense of purpose through music.
